Cutter and Squidge

Cutter and Squidge is a place I visit on a regular basis. No, I mean it – regular means once a month or more! Love their cakes, their bisquies and I can’t wait to take some of my friends there! Located in Soho, Cutter and Squidge was founded by two sisters. Their philosophy is using as much natural ingredients and less sugar.

Spring in London

We’ve spent the last few months in London visiting some new places and revisiting some of our favourites. One of our guilty pleasures is breakfast at The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park overlooking Hyde Park! Last month we had the waffles, made to order and absolutely delicious. The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is the perfect place to take a visitor to London for breakfast as you get the opportunity to see the Queen’s cavalry go by early in the mornings! It is quite the stunning view!

Favourite bakeries in New York

I discovered some new places this time round in New York and thoroughly enjoyed these experiences! Bouchon Bakery in Time Warner Centre I have already been to but the two others were mere coincidences that I happened to be walking past of.

Bleecker Street was my favourite new spot in New York this fall. Filled with restaurants and bars its the perfect place to spend a day. Maison Kayser is Eric Kayser’s traditional french boulangerie with various branches in New York. Excellent service!

Maison Kayser Bleecker Street
Bouchon Bakery was recommended to me by a friend who used to work there years ago and it has one of the best locations in New York in my opinion. In the heart of the Time Warner building, it overlooks Columbus Circle. Coffee and dessert are delicious!

I love hotels that are home to cafes where you get to experience a more relaxed setting. The New York Palace does exactly that with Pomme Palais, an independent patisserie!

Some of my favourite places in New York in Fall

Time Warner Centre

I have had the pleasure of visiting this amazing city every season now and I have to admit, fall is one of the best times to visit NY! The city is preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas and everything looks extremely festive. Great weather for walking around and exploring the city. Some of my favourite areas walking about this time were TriBeca along the piers, the Time Warner Centre and Madison Avenue ofcourse!

Brunch at Bar Boulud, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London

Bar Boulud is one of my favourite places in London. People don’t even realise it is located below the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park – it is hidden and easily missed but it has one of the best atmospheres a restaurant can have in London. The bar, the friendly staff and location give it a great personality that many restaurants do miss in London.

Recently, I spent a Sunday having brunch at Bar Boulud. The menu is extensive and the starters are a part of the buffet which has something for everyone including humous, charcuterie, salads and a selection of fresh breads! For the main, I went for the Brunch Burger and finished off with the delicious and unusual waffles served with hot chocolate sauce.

Bar Boulud has a laid back environment and buzzing atmosphere which makes you want to go back! This place should definitely be on your list for brunch places. Last but not the least, the coffee is amazing!

Jake’s at The Knick NYC

The Knickerbocker Hotel has been one of the most anticipated openings of 2015 in New York (atleast for me). I am so delighted to have had the opportunity to see the hotel and also try out Jake’s – the super cool new cafe part of the hotel.

The Knickerbocker is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. I believe it is the only 5 star ultra luxury hotel in the Times Square area and was much needed.

Jake’sΒ is one of the coolest cafe’s I have seen. In the shape of a very chic tunnel, it is understated yet glamorous. Perfect for a small break before you head out to tour the city!

Summer at The Lowell

The Lowell is one of those hotels that keeps getting better with service, attention to detail and warmth. This was my second visit to the hotel since January this year and I had one of the best times ever!

I got the opportunity to stay in a lovely Michael Smith designed Junior Suite. With it’s own kitchenette, lounge area and spacious bathroom it is perfect for a summer getaway. I have to say The Lowell did not forget my choice of newspapers from last time and the staff still remembered my name. I cannot emphasise enough how genuine the service and friendliness of the Lowell family is. It is privately tucked away on a street off Madison Avenue yet close to all major shopping attractions and museums of the Upper East Side.

Breakfast at the Shangri La Shard!

Turning 25 has been extremely overwhelming. They call it the quarter life crisis but to be honest, I feel I have yet a long way to go to achieve my dreams. I don’t even feel that old. Turning 25 made me realise that I have been living in one of the best cities in the world for the past 7 years that is constantly evolving.

On my birthday, a dear friend took me to The Shangri La Shard for breakfast. The views were absolutely stunning!

They could definitely work on the service but the value for what we got, the views, the ambience were all top notch. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting London to visit this place for its views and ambience.

Breakfast with Chantal Coady at The Rococo Chocolate Cafe

Chantal Coady’s story is a chocolate fairtytale coming true. Now 32 years old, Rococo Chocolates have recently started serving breakfast at their Motcomb Street location (has to be ordered and booked a day in advance) but the all day cafe serves some delicious cakes and chocolates from Chantal’s book.

We attended a blogger’s breakfast last week hosted by Chantal herself and attended by some leading journalists and food bloggers. The breakfast was divine! A true chocolate haven. We started off with the Power Granola served with yoghurt and fresh berries, Chantal’s own recipe followed by some delicious treats including chocolate and mint madeleines, a delicious caramel based chocolate spread with bread, brownies and hot chocolate (and much more!).

Rococo is a wonderful place for meetings, get togethers, afternoon tea and the best hot chocolate.

Soon Rococo will be hosting some inspiring breakfasts hosted by entrepreneurs, inspiring women and Chantal herself so watch this space!

American Bar at The Beaumont

We visited the place as soon as it opened last year and felt service was still slow and not up to the mark. However, it takes time for a new hotel to settle and now it is definitely one of my favourite places in Mayfair. Understated, hidden and not overpriced – this bar is excellent for a lunch, evening snack and some great coffee. Service is unrivaled and its perfect to catch up with a friend here without being disturbed. Even though it is a great place for people watching the crowd is very relaxed and this is what makes it stand out!
